Westminster Preschool Achieves Hard-Earned Accredited Status
[March 31, 2009, Bluefield, WV] Westminster Preschool was fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) on March 13,following a rigorous preparatory and evaluative process.Led by Linda Mullennex, Westminster Preschool enrolls 73 preschool students, from 1 – 5 years old.Only 8 percent of WV Early Education and ChildcareCenters have achieved national accreditation, and Westminster Preschool is the first WV preschool to receive accreditation through the Association of Christian Schools International.
ACSI accreditation provides a national benchmark for Christian schools, measuring standards, performance, integrity, and quality.Schools engage in a voluntary process of self-evaluation against nationally accepted best practices and standards. This evaluative process scrutinizes the following areas: philosophy and policy making, administration, personnel, curriculum, nutritional and food services, physical environment, health and safety, and family and community relationships. The accreditation process assists schools in achieving a standard of excellence and encourages a continuous process of assessment and ongoing institutional development.
Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, ACSI provides programs and services to strengthen and equip its 5,300 member schools in over 100 nations. ACSI is a leader in accrediting Protestant Pre-K–12 schools worldwide.ACSI’s accrediting standards are formally recognized and approved by the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA), which is a member and participant with regional accrediting associations as a part of CITA (Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation).
ACSI also has dual or third-party accreditation agreements with the various regional accrediting bodies such as Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), North Central Association (NCA), Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA), Northwest Association of Accredited Schools (NAAS), and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
